To pivot the rack just pull the spring loaded black latch bar, then pivot the rack to the desired position. The automatic spring loaded latch bar jumps into position eliminating any need for pins or clips. The 1up USA Quik-Rack pivots to 4 different position. Pivot position 1: Vertical and closest to the vehicle.

Pivot position 2: Not as close to the vehicle so there is extra clearance for spare tires or large bumpers.
Position 3: Transporting position when bikes are being transported.
Position 4: Pivots bikes down to allow easier access to the vehicle's trunk or hatch.
